After being evaluated and selected by the European Commission within its 7th Framework Programme, the project recently started with a kick‐off meeting in Brussels on the 19th/20th of September 2012. Coordinated by the Spanish research organization Tecnalia, 23 European Partners from research, industry and policy makers originating from 13 countries are contributing to the projects’ objectives. They are being advised by an External Expert Panel composed of a group of independent experts, from both the public and private sectors, including municipalities, architects and restorers, policy makers, and standardization experts.
Based on an overall budget of 6.7 million euro the consortium will perform its research activities over the next four years. Because development of this niche market is essential, 36 % of the project budget is allocated to SMEs (Small to Medium Enterprises), which will work together with large companies, research institutions and end users throughout the duration of the project.
